VELES | THE SCENT OF THE DEEP UNDERGROUND, UNTAMPERED POWER AND PROSPERITY.
SLAVIC MYTHS - GODS
Here is a tale torn from the deep darkness: the whisper of dark forests that murmur over abandoned marshes, when dusk falls in silence. O God of Chaos! Misty spirits glide slowly,
as if lost for centuries. The secret of the primeval fire smoulders.
This is a disturbing presence that leads along a path of no return , where the earth hides the secrets of the dead. This is ancient knowledge, hidden in the depths of nature, a wild, untamed force, full of ancient wisdom, which only a few will attain.
SAFFRON - THE KINGDOM OF WEALTH AND SACRIFICE
Saffron, one of the most expensive spices, reflects the wealth that Veles can bestow. Bitter and intense. Its color evokes associations with sacrifice – a gift given in dark rites to appease or propitiate a deity. So precious that its sacrifice enhances the spiritual dimension of the ceremony.
HONEY - A PROMISE OF PROSPERITY AND TEMPTATION
Honey symbolizes fertility, sweetness, abundance as well as the promise of Veles' generosity. At the same time, it recalls the ancient ritual of honey offerings, made in the underground or at the roots of sacred trees, to propitiate the deities and spirits. It is also associated with temptation. Sweetness that can lead to ruin.
SMOKE THE - SCENT OF THE AFTERWARDS
Smoke is a fundamental symbol of transformation – it accompanies rituals of passage, burning sacrifices, death and rebirth. It connects the earth with the land of the dead. In ancient Slavic beliefs, burning herbs or incense could open the way to contact with the gods.
PATCHOULI - EARTHY UNDERGROUND
Patchouli is an earthy, deep note. It aptly reflects the weight of the wet underground and the mystical aura of Veles. It is dark, dense, unsettling - like the path that Veles leads through the underground corridors, a path without return.
LABDANUM - THE MYSTERY OF SACRIFICE
The resinous depth of labdanum evokes images of ancient sacrificial ceremonies, where incense and fire united humans with the gods. It introduces an element of sacrality and reinforces the impression that this scent
is used to communicate with the god of wild, mysterious forces.
TARN - LORD OF THE UNDERGROUND
The deep, dark smell of birch tar is Veles's rule over the afterlife. In Slavic beliefs, birch was a tree that connected worlds. It was believed that souls of dead girls entered birches. Or that under a birch tree growing alone in a field, the spirit of a murdered man lies and suffers.
