Yvresse, Dior Addict, Opium, Obsession... The allusions to illicit products and the language of addiction have a long association with perfumery. But can perfume really be addictive? The eighth issue of Nez explores this topic in depth, grappling with questions of addiction and dependency as it relates to fragrance and olfaction. Perfume was, after all, born of smoke and now depends on alcohol for its very survival.

Along with this special feature, this issue contains interviews with both Serge Lutens and Luca Turin along with an exploration of Japanese perfumery, an in-depth look at Parfums de Nicolaï and a special report on lavender. In addition, this issue contains an exciting new feature called 1+1, an on-going collaborative multimedia project.
