Silphium | Silphium (probably of the genus Ferula) was a plant that grew in the area of Cyrene, present day Libya, and was widely renowned as a spice, medicinal herb and perfume ingredient throughout the empires of the classical antiquity. This rendition of the historical plant was created by researching surviving assumed relatives of Silphium, using aromachemicals (the molecular building blocks of scents) to create an accord that represents what descriptions remain. This is set against a background of ancient incense, woods and leather.
Top Notes: Silphium Accord, Sistus.
Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Tobacco, Geranium, Black Pepper, Ginger & Clove.
Base Notes: Frankincense, Cedarwood, Myrrh & Leather.

“It happened many seasons ago. Of course to explain it you would have to be here. We had all been used to only the same smells, the same architecture. Until the monsoon came. At first we were weary. What did she want with us? But then we became dizzy. The allure became a way of living. Without it we were dust.”
